Rapid Creek Wedding in Iowa City
Kayla and Jacob had a romantic and classic wedding day at Rapid Creek Cidery in Iowa City. It was a warm summer day that just radiated love the entire day. There were so many happy tears throughout the day and if you know Kayla and Jacob, it makes sense. They’re just genuinely happy, kind, loving people who put their heart out there.
Their relationship is truly one of the most beautiful I’ve had the privilege of witnessing and I feel incredibly lucky to tell their love story through these images. During their first look, I just yelled out “DANG YOU’RE PHOTOGENIC” and they laughed saying they’ve never thought/been told that. The thing is, though, if you’re IN LOVE, having the best day and stress-free on your wedding day, your photos will definitely make you feel photogenic because it’s second nature to be cuddling and kissing with your boo thing. That’s my favorite part of wedding days - getting to be a part of that excitement, giddiness, and passion couples have for one another. It’s such a privilege to have this small part in your big day.
Jacob and Kayla had a gorgeous outdoor ceremony at the Rapid Creek Cidery venue. Future couples looking for a venue - this place is amazing! The outdoor space is gorgeous, but also shaded. This is perfect for hot summer days so you’re not sitting in the beating sun and shade is always nice for photos! There is also a ton of windows inside where Rapid Creek Cidery holds their events in the downstairs. This means if you need to have an indoor ceremony, there’s still plenty of natural light and will be beautiful regardless. Kayla and Jacob also had a bartender mixing drinks before the ceremony between photos which is always a fun idea - especially when serving their signature cocktail - the Wellie - a blueberry moscow mule named after their Chocolate Lab. The Wilson’s apple orchard and beautiful trees outside also make the options for photos endless.
During their ceremony, Kayla and Jacob recited personalized vows they helped create with their pastor and also shared love letters to each other. This is when the tears came a flowing from the audience, myself included. They talked about the things they love about each other and their relationship - that Jacob is calm, collected, and kind to complement Kayla’s crazy, outgoing, and caring self. They discussed how they promise to stay faithful to one another, putting God and each other first before all else. I love when couples write their own vows or share love letters because the day you choose to commit yourself to one another should be all about you - and be a personal ceremony that feels just like the two of you. Kayla and Jacob definitely did that while they said I Do under the beautiful trees at Rapid Creek Cidery.
Kayla’s Adrianna Papell dress truly looked made for her. The simple sheath and beautiful beading made it the perfect summer wedding dress and Jacob’s classic black tux with bowtie really complemented the look. Their classic yet rustic decor complimented the Rapid Creek Cidery event space so well and all of their vendors made the day so perfect.
